Bay Area Service Teens Remember Retired Philanthropic Program, Bingo at the Terrace

From the very beginning, Bay Area Service Teens recognized that service goes beyond simply meeting needs; it involves establishing meaningful relationships. This was particularly evident in their long-standing partnership with the senior residents of the Terrace, now known as Brookdale Senior Living.

One of the group’s favorite activities became their monthly bingo visits. The teens brought energy and smiles, and the residents eagerly awaited their arrival and the chance to play alongside them.

For the residents, these games were a highlight—an opportunity to feel noticed, engaged, and surrounded by youthful energy.

In January 2013, changes at the Terrace brought the Bingo at the Terrace philanthropic program to an end. However, the teens carried the lessons they learned with them and, a few years later, established a new partnership with another senior living facility.

Bay Area Service Teens’ commitment to bringing generations together remains central to their identity.
