The Birthday in a Box philanthropic program was launched in 2005 with the mission to bring joy to students who may not have the chance to celebrate their birthdays.
Initially, the program focused on the students of McWhirter Elementary in Clear Creek ISD. Each ‘box’ contains a small gift, a personalized note, a colorful card, and various party supplies. These boxes are distributed to students participating in the Communities In Schools – Bay Area initiative, which supports at-risk youth in the community.
Over the years, the program has successfully broadened its scope. It began at McWhirter and later expanded to include students from League City Elementary in February 2016.
Recognizing growing demand for its services, Bay Area Service Teens members voted to extend their reach to the Dickinson ISD in spring 2022.
Now, each month, Bay Area Service Teens come together to assemble these birthday kits, which are also delivered to K.E. Little Elementary and San Leon Elementary.
These teens understand the lasting impact they have on the lives of these young students.
