YAGA’s Children’s Fund Helps Galveston Students Start the School Year with Confidence

Thirty-two Galveston Independent School District students from Pre-K through 8th grade received new school clothing, shoes, undergarments, and hygiene supplies. This helps each child start school feeling confident and supported.

With support from YAGA’s Children’s Fund, the Ready for School Shop & Deliver team picked out pants, shorts, shirts, underwear, socks, and shoes for each student, using applications where students shared their style preferences. GISD Counselors Cheryl Chapman and Jo Ellen Allen added four polo shirts and a zippered jacket to each bag because the district requires them and they can be hard to find in local stores. After assembling the bags, they delivered them directly to students at their home campuses.

The YAGA Children’s Fund grant is already making a difference for students, and every dollar goes directly to meeting their needs.
